 Error-Resilient Video Coding Framework for Wireless Video Transmission

 

Supavadee Aramvith (IEEE S’95-M’01-SM’06, IEICE M’04) received the B.S. (first class honors) degree in Computer Science from Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand, in 1993. She received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington, Seattle, USA, in 1996 and 2001, respectively. She joined Chulalongkorn University in June 2001. Currently, she is an Associate Professor and Head of Digital Signal Processing Laboratory at Department of Electrical Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand. She was Associate Head in International Affairs (2007-2016) and Head, Communication Engineering Division (2013-2016). She is a focal point of Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University as an academia member of International Telecommunication Union (ITU) under United Nations (2015-Present) and is an Expert to ITU-D for the Impact Study of ICT4SG (ICT for Sustainable Development Goals) (2016-2017). She is currently IEEE Region 10 Executive Committee: Educational Activities Coordinator (2011-2014, 2016), IEEE Educational Activities Board (EAB) volunteers:  EAB Engineering Projects for Communities Service (EPICS in IEEE) (2012-2016) and HKN Globalization Committee (2016). She was IEEE Region 10 WIE Coordinator (2015) and MGA Representative to EAB (2015). She was Assistant Executive Director of AUN/SEED-Net Secretariat, JICA Project from 2007-2009. She is also in the IEEE Circuits and Systems (CAS) Society Technical Committee on Multimedia System and Applications, IEEE Communication Society Multimedia Communication Committee, APSIPA Image and Video Technical Committee Chair, IEEE Signal Processing Society Chapter Chair of Thailand Section and IEEE Thailand Section Executive Committee. She also serves as Chair, IEICE Bangkok area representative. She is an Associate Editor of IEICE Transaction on Information and Systems.  She is reviewer of major journals such as IEEE-TSVT, JVCIR, ETRI, and EIT Image Processing.  She also serves as General Co-Chair (ISMAC 2009-2015, MMM 2018), Technical Program Co-Chair (IWAIT 2008, IEEE ISCIT (2010, 2012, 2015, 2017), APSIPA (2016-2017), Special Session co-chairs (APSIPA (2014, 2018)), International Steering Committee (IEEE ISPACS), Board member (IWAIT) and Organising Committee of many well known conferences such VCIP and ICME.   In addition, She has rich project management experiences as the project leader and technical advisor to The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commissions of Thailand and Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

 

Her research interests include computer vision techniques for surveillance applications, rate-control for video coding, error resilient video coding for wireless video transmissions, and image/video retrieval techniques. She leads Video Technology Research Group under Digital Signal Processing Laboratory.

 2D MRI Intermodal Hybrid Brain Image Fusion using Stationary Wavelet Transform

 

Abstract:

 

Medical image fusion involves combination of multimodal sensor images to obtain both anatomical and functional data to be used by radiologists for the purpose of disease diagnosis, monitoring and research. This presentation provides a comparative analysis of multiple fusion techniques that can be used to obtain accurate information from the intermodal MRI T1 T2 images. The source images are initially decomposed using Stationary Wavelet Transform (SWT) into approximation and detail components while the approximation components are reconstructed by Discrete Curvelet Transform (DCT), the SWT and DCT are good for point and line discontinuities. This paper also provides a comparative study of the different types of image fusion techniques available for MRI image decomposition. These approximation and detail components are fused using the different fusion rules. Final fused image is obtained by inverse SWT transformation. The fused image is used to localize the abnormality of brain images that lead to accurate identification of brain diseases such as 95.7% of brain lesion, 97.3% of Alzheimer's disease and 98% of brain tumor. Various performance parameters are evaluated to compare the fusion techniques and the proposed method which provides better result is analyzed. This comparison is done based on the method which provided the fused image with more Entropy, Average pixel intensity, Standard deviation and Correlation coefficient and Edge strength.
 

Bio: Professor Sivakumar is a Professor and Head of Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at RMK Engineering College, Tamilnadu, India. He has been teaching in the Electronics and Communication field since 1997. He obtained his Master’s degree and PhD from College of Engineering Guindy, Anna University, Chennai. His research interests include Bio Signal Processing, Medical Image Processing, wireless body sensor networks and VLSI. He has published over 34 journal and 42 conference papers over the last several years. He has taught a wide variety of Electronics courses including Digital Image Processing, Multimedia Compression Techniques, VLSI Design, Medical Electronics and Electronic Circuits. Dr.Siva is a life member of the Indian Society of Technical Education, a member of IEEE. Dr.Siva has been invited to deliver Keynote Speech and Chair at various International conferences.

An Optimized Testing Technique For Test Data Generation Using Fusion Of Uml Diagrams And Genetic Algorithm

 

 

 

Abstract:

 

The growing role and importance of software testing has led to design and development of new software testing techniques for all software development paradigms. Controlling and minimizing software complexity is the most important objective of each software development paradigm because it affects all other software quality attributes like reusability, reliability, testability, maintainability etc. For this purpose, a number of software testing techniques have been reported to report different types of faults based on  complexity.

 In recent years, component-based software development (CBSD) has emerged an evolving paradigm where emphasis is to maximize reuse of code of existing components and effective designing of new components. As the development of component-based software is rising, more and more testing techniques are being developed for the same.

The keynote speech focuses on a new testing technique which generates test data for a software by using UML diagrams and genetic algorithm. Test data is generated by fusion of three UML diagrams namely, Activity diagram, sequence diagram and Use-Case  diagram. Genetic algorithm is used to optimize the test cases/data. In this way, this technique generates optimized and better test data/cases based on wider coverage of software. By using this, we can improve the quality of a software and can use testing resources more effectively. Therefore, this technique helps in development of good quality software and may be very useful for software industry.

 

 

Bio: Professor (Dr.) Rajender Singh Chhillar is a Professor at Department of Computer Science, Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, Haryana. He has been teaching in the fields of Computer Science and Engineering  since 1987 and is one of the founder member of the Department. He obtained his Master’s degree from Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra and Ph.D (Computer Science) from Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, Haryana. He received his Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Sikkim Manipal University.
 

During his service in Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, Professor Chhillar held important positions as :

He also won the best paper award in International Conference ICCEE- 2013 held in Paris, France during October 12-13, 2013 and also chaired a session in this conference. 

Professor Chhillar is a Director of Board, CMAI Asia Association, New Delhi and senior member of IACSIT, Singapore and a member of Computer Society of India. Professor Chhillar  has been serving as Editorial Board Member, Guest Editor and Reviewer of multiple international journals, and serving as Program Committee Chair, Keynote Speaker and Session Chair of multiple international conferences. He also performs advisory work to Government agencies and academic bodies.

His research interests include Software Engineering, Software Testing, Software Metrics, Web Metrics, Bio Metrics, Data Warehouse and Data Mining, Computer Networking, and Software Design. He has published more than 100 journal and 65 conference papers over the last several years and has also written two books in the fields of Software Engineering and Information Technology.

He has taught a wide variety of Computer  courses at University Teaching Department including Software Engineering, Data Structures, Data Base Management System, Software Testing and Quality Assurance, Software Quality Management, Programming Languages, and Software Design

Bio: Dr. Larry Vea is a Professor of the School of Information Technology, Mapua University, Manila, Philippines. He is the Research Coordinator, as well as the Head of the Computer-Human Automation and Interaction Research Laboratory of the School.

Dr. Veais an Electrical Engineer by profession. However, when he joined the academe, he pursued higher education by taking up Master of Science in Computer Science at the De La Salle University, Manila Philippines. Later, he took up his PhD in Computer Science at Ateneo De Manila University, Philippines.

Dr. Vea’s research interests include Machine Learning, Data Mining, Pattern Recognition, and other fields that yield to the development of Intelligent Systems. He has presented and published papers in relation to Affective Computing, Human Computer Interaction, and Information Security in various conferences.
